01 — Aquatic & Outdoor Design
Conceptual design, 3D modelling and construction documents for pools and outdoor environments — for homeowners in Central Texas and for architects and builders nationwide.
GB IV Designs was founded in 2020 to give architects and custom builders a design partner who understands water. We design aquatic environments — pools, spas, water and fire features, outdoor structures and the landscape between them — from the first concept sketch through 3D modelling and construction documents. In Central Texas we also build what we design; across the country we work alongside the architect, landscape architect and local builder as the aquatic specialist on the team.
02 — New Pool Construction
Custom gunite pools, spas and complete outdoor environments, engineered for Austin's limestone and clay and built by the team that designed them.
We build in gunite — shaped to the site rather than dropped into it — and we build only what we have designed. Vanishing edges, perimeter overflows, raised spas, sunken lounges, slides hidden in rockwork, porcelain-clad shells: the work in our portfolio is the work we do every week in Austin, Bee Cave, West Lake Hills, Dripping Springs and the Hill Country. One accountable team carries the project from the first sketch to the first swim.
03 — Renovation & ASR Remediation
Full redesigns, resurfacing, tile and equipment upgrades — and expert diagnosis and reconstruction of pools damaged by alkali-silica reaction.
An existing pool can become a luxury pool without starting over. We renovate shells, add spas, vanishing edges and water features, re-tile in glass or large-format porcelain, replace decks and modernise equipment and automation. We are also one of the few firms in Texas with deep experience in alkali-silica reaction (ASR) — the concrete deterioration that cracks and spalls pool shells — including diagnosis, mitigation and full reconstruction of affected pools.
04 — Expert Consulting
Pre-construction consulting, peer review, forensic assessment and owner representation for complex aquatic projects.
Some projects need an expert in the room before they need a contractor. We consult for homeowners, architects, builders and attorneys on complex pool and water-feature projects: reviewing designs and hydraulics, assessing existing construction, diagnosing failures such as ASR, and representing owners through construction by another builder. The goal is the same as in our own work — a pool that performs as beautifully as it looks.
05 — Large-Format Porcelain & Tile
Pioneers of large-panel porcelain in aquatic environments — pools, spas, decks and raised walls clad in gauged porcelain, glass and stone.
Large-panel porcelain changed what a pool can look like, and GB IV Designs was among the first firms in the country to install it in water. Bo Barnett has presented the technique at Coverings and taught it for Watershape University; our Hill Country Glamour and Legend of Driftwood Hollow projects earned Coverings Installation & Design recognition in 2025 and 2026. We specify and install gauged porcelain panels, glass mosaic and natural stone on shells, spas, raised walls and decks, with the waterproofing and installation systems that make them permanent.
